Hi I’m Marius F,

I’m working as a software engineer in San Francisco (SF), studied Physics in beautiful Heidelberg in Germany and as a kid I thought I’d build tree houses and cars when I’d be grown up.

This website is my personal place where I share random thoughts (I love to “yap”, as my partner says, and I need a secondary outlet for my rants) and to show photos from hobby projects or any other stuff. There’s a lot that interests me, I expect to post stuff about:

• Musings about society, customs, language and design
• Photography
• Software Engineering & Tech
• Crafty hobby projects
• My life

I have no idea where this will take me and how many people will see it at all. I might add comment functionality in the future, until then, I’m happy to hear from anyone friendly by email .

Background

I started this website between jobs in 2025 (publishing it the day before starting my new job) because I thought it would be cool to have a space that is outside of platforms with established dynamics and guardrails (instagram, linkedin, major blogging platforms): no login, no tracking, no clickbait, no jumping on hypes - just whatever I want to do and post and in the style I want it.

Despite attempting to get into any UI work several times, I never could get my backend-centered mind into it. So everything you see here is a result of me begging an LLM coding agent to please do things in a clean and best-practices way. I started by forking astro-paper which got me off the ground, so many thanks to all contributors of this project 🫶.
